Diabetes mellitus (Prameha- Madhumeha) has been discussed in Ayurveda from ancient times. Ancient Sages Caraka gave an exhaustive description of the disease Prameha which ultimately progresses towards Madhumeha or the sweetness of urine in addition to polyuria (Bahumutrata) if unchecked leads to various complications. Modern Science verifies the statements of Acharya Charak that Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. Hyperglycaemia, or raised blood sugar, is a common effect of uncontrolled diabetes and over time leads to serious damage to many of the body's systems, especially the nerves and blood vessels.

As per WHO records Diabetes causes about 5% of all deaths globally each year. 80% of people with diabetes live in low and middle income countries. Most people with diabetes in low and middle income countries are middle-aged (45-64). Diabetes deaths are likely to increase by more than 50% in the next 10 years without urgent action.

Given such a Global Condition when Diabetes is escalating and there by narrowing the margin of epidemic proportion, a sincere approach is to be taken towards identification and prophylactic management of Diabetes prone group.

Many herbal drug combinations are being successfully used for the control of such hyperglycemic groups, Ayurveda has great potential of managing such a condition. Thus playing the dual role as

Swathasya Swasthya rakshanama!

Aturasya Vikara prashamanam!!

i.e maintaining the health of healthy as well as healing the diseased.

Dr. Dinesh Yadav

Diabetes Mellitus (D.M.) commonly known as Madhumeha in Ayurveda is of worldwide prevalence and its incidences are growing faster than any other systemic or infective disease.

Many of the uncontrolled or poorly controlled diabetic patients suffer from skin disorders.

Prevention is better than cure This saying best implies in the case of diabetes because no complete remedy for D.M. has been established so far and complications of uncontrolled D.M. are more severe than the disease itself. But we can check these by use of proper medicines, diet, exercise etc.

Testimonial For Training

I did the intensive one-week Ayurveda and Yoga training with Dr. Rajesh and to say the least I was extremely impressed with the standard of the course. The course itself was very demanding but as it was well designed it was easier to understand the theoretical concepts as the course progressed. As for the practical component of the course, I had the pleasure to be massaged by 3 different Kerala therapists, who come from 3 different training schools in Kerala, so that I could benefit  from their varied expertise. The best part of the course for me was the practical, as I had the best masseur, Rajeev, working with me massaging different volunteers.  This  was essential to enable me to follow his moves and so  grasp the whole complexity and rhythm of the movements.  The whole course was well supervised by Dr. Rajesh and Dr. Anurag, my Yogi guru during my Yoga training. Im also very thankful to Dr. Rajesh for arranging hotel, airport transfer, etc.  Overall, this is a fantastic course and I couldnt have chosen a better centre to do it in.  I highly recommend this course and hope you will have as much fun as I did -  we may even meet on the Diploma course, which will be my next step.

Kind regards,

Eberth Zagallo

Thanks Eberth Zagallo for the nice compliments about us.
